Basma Massoud

Senior Associate

Basma is an architect and an assistant professor who has worked in academia at different universities as the Head of the Interior Design Department and as a Lecturer in the Architectural department. Following a Master degree of Architecture from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and the Chur Institute of Architecture, Basma obtained a PhD in Architecture from the University of Sheffield. She specializes in vernacular architecture and threshold spaces, with a focus on the impact of spatial experience in the urban context and authored a book that explores the meaning of threshold spaces in old Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

She has worked as an architect in various firms in Germany and Saudi Arabia on a variety of project scales. Her architectural interests include urban transformation, use and concepts of space, the relationship between public and private spheres, and the notion of transition in cities. Basma enjoys different sports, traveling, and exploring old cities with her family.
