McKenzie employs a multidisciplinary approach to design, using methods of mapping, recording, and uncovering so that a landscape’s true potential can be articulated and amplified. She enjoys collaborating with other designers to enhance natural site assets, steward resources, and celebrate cultural connections. This approach draws upon related disciplines and the communities in which she works to create unique landscapes that reflect the users’ ethos.

Before joining Coen+Partners, McKenzie worked on a wide breadth of project types—from a constructed waterfront development in Boston’s Seaport District to master planning for The Alamo Unesco World Heritage Site in San Antonio, as well as for prominent institutions such as Vanderbilt University. Advocacy, equity, and the advancement of the profession drive her involvement on the Board of Directors for the Landscape Architecture Foundation and the Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University (OSU).

McKenzie graduated Summa Cum Laude from OSU’s Knowlton School with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. During her studies, she was recognized as a National Olmsted Scholar, and won a National ASLA Honor Award.

In her free time, McKenzie loves taking walks in the woods with her husband and two dogs Odin and Luna. You may also find her in the garden, or searching for new culinary experiences, art collections, yoga retreats, and landscapes in the states and abroad.
