Chunyan’s passion for design revolves around public parks, waterfront landscapes, and the protection and restoration of wetlands. She firmly believes that landscape designers have a responsibility to address environmental and social justice in their projects, designing with the well-being of humanity in mind. She is detail-oriented and passionate about using her unique insights to focus on broader issues through design, such as addressing sustainable systems and climate change mitigation.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture from Northeast Forestry University. Prior to joining Coen+Partners, she gained five years of experience at a large planning and design firm in China, working on a variety of projects. She completed her Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Minnesota, where she was also honored with the MN ASLA Student Honor Award.
During her leisure time, Chunyan delights in exploring nature and engaging in sports. You can often find her playing basketball or Disc Golf in parks with her husband and friends. She also finds relaxation in practicing Yoga and indulging in her passion for cooking.
