Born in a culture where philosophies about human and nature differ, Wanjing is interested in the interaction of culture, art, urban environment and their impacts on informing the landscape.  After receiving a Bachelor of Architecture in Tsinghua University, she shifted focus to landscape architecture for a more balanced view of the built world, and continued her schooling at Tsinghua with a Master of Landscape Architecture degree. Following this she worked on several large scale national park and planning projects whereby rare natural resources were protected and access to tourism was developed in an ecologically-sensitive manner. Intrigued by a more intimate relationship between human and nature in a daily urban situation, Wanjing continued to pursue another Master of Landscape Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. There, she explored how design transected boundaries in various mediums and technics, and she served as research assistant and teaching assistant for studio courses.
